COMFORTABLE IN THESE CLOTHES
Sister, these are the sinister whispers we spread:
Ministers & listeners forge tin gospels, sermonize
thinness & disguise love in window shows. About
what I have to say there are no Psalms. Forget
for a moment the earth & the restless necessity
of the sea & the sacred settlement of the trees,
forget design & witness, the wings’ susurrus hush,
forget, even, percentages, quanta, alternatives.
This: There is a discomfort I feel always even in
the tickle of your skin that you sing into belief.
