I will count them in a million places.
Drunk at the knees, touching
in the back room. On a bright beach day,
the dip of your back digging
into the sand. With your legs
crossed upon the coffee table,
feet stretched toward the sun
like a pair of perfect daisies.

Yes, I will count the freckles
along your cheeks and know
I will lose count the same way
one does when counting stars–
knowing I will gladly try again.
